Afinia L801 Pro Color Label Printer
The Afinia L801 Pro replaces the L801 and L801 Plus in Afinia Label’s lineup. It keeps the same print engine: a stationary Memjet Waterfall printhead with 70,400 nozzles, up to 1600 x 1600 dpi, 8.5″ print width, and speeds up to 60 feet per minute. The changes are aimed at the people who run the printer every day.
What’s new compared with the L801 and L801 Plus
- 5″ touchscreen. It replaces the small LCD on earlier L801 models. You can check printer status and ink levels, reprint jobs, run preventive maintenance and walk through printhead replacement right at the printer. An admin PIN can lock restricted settings.
- Job storage. The printer can recall and reprint up to 30 recent jobs from the touchscreen, with thumbnail previews, so repeat SKUs don’t need a trip back to the design PC.
- Easier roller access for routine cleaning.
- Same standard ink cartridges as the original L801 (part numbers 22467, 22474, 22460, 22453).
Who it’s for
Afinia rates the L801 Pro for 5,000 to 70,000+ labels per month. That makes it a good fit for brands and producers that have outgrown desktop printers or no longer want to deal with minimum orders on pre-printed rolls, including food and beverage, supplements, health and beauty, and private label. It prints CMYK dye ink with two black cartridges. It does not print white, and it works best on white or light inkjet-receptive stock. If your labels will be wet, chilled or handled a lot, test your material first. The L801 Pro is not designed for BS5609 GHS drum labels.
Media and print modes
The printer handles roll media from 2″ to 8.5″ wide on a 3″ core, up to 8″ outside diameter. It works with gloss, semi-gloss and matte inkjet-coated paper, polyester, polypropylene and vinyl. It detects gap, black mark and continuous stock. You can print roll to cut with the built-in powered cutter, print and present, or roll to roll with the optional powered rewinder.
Connectivity and software
The L801 Pro connects over USB 2.0 or Ethernet and has GPIO for external device control. It prints through a Windows driver from your existing label design or graphics software. The embedded web server exports ink usage data and includes a virtual print mode that estimates how much ink a job will use before you run it. It supports Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) only. Mac and ARM/Snapdragon PCs are not supported.
